Moving day & Hair cut

Success!!! I woke up early and got us all packed up then Doug and I headed to the payphone. We managed to get in touch with Jack and he said we could have the place so we agreed to meet at around noon.

I decided to go look at Miguel’s mother’s place because I would kick myself after if it turned out to be amazing. It was very cute, not big but certainly bigger than the others we had looked at. The problem is it is so far away. I knew that when he described it to me. He didn’t think it was a big deal but he is not living with a 14 year old who wants to skateboard every hour.

We had a few hours to kill before meeting with Jack so we got Dougs first hair cut in Costa Rica, stocked up on groceries and house supplies, then headed back to the hostel to meet the cab.

Jack and his wife ???I am so bad with names??? Showed us around and made us lunch.

The lady who was living in the house passed away about two months ago so there was lots to do to move her things out and still lots of garbage to take away.

We are very excited to be here. There are thee buildings. The main building, made of wood, has the kitchen, living/dining area and a small loft just big enough for a queen size mattress.

Above is a view of the front porch, to the right is the side porch where the laundry machine is and another entrance into the kitchen.

This is a view from the living/dining area. The stairs lead up to the loft

This of course is the very small loft

Bathroom and kitchen need no explanation.

Both of the doors in this building and one in the second building are split doors. I had the top halves open all day to air out the building.

The second building, also made of wood, has a big desk, the Internet and a large loft area where Jack says his kids use to sleep. The garbage will be removed tomorrow.

Inside the second building. The stairs lead to a very large loft..

The third building is made of cement and is a very secure building with bars on the window. They made this because they travel so often and wanted a place to secure their valuables. There are two beds in here but it is fairly musty smelling.

We ended up moving the table and shelving unit from here into the second building and took out the table that was in it.

After a few hours of re-arranging furniture and cleaning out the five million cobwebs we decided to move two beds and a shelving unit into the second building and make that our bedroom and office/homework area.

  2. Apparently, I can add a duplicare comment or not at all. Trying to say that this looks wonderful, especially after your furniture rearrangements. How far are you from groceries, skateboarding, etc. ?

  3. There is a whole food store, a bakery and three or four restaurants only a minute down the road. The paved road is about 1Km away and we are just a little over 2Km from Santa Elena where we were earlier this week. We will probably go there at least one afternoon a week. I found an aerobics class in town so I told Doug I might join it while he skateboards with the other kids he met.
