Puntarenas

Our day started early today as we decided to take the bus and head to the beach. The bus left Monteverde at 6AM so we were up at 5AM getting ourselves organized.
This guy can just stay at home by himself!

The bus ride was 2 ½ hours but in that short time period we went from being in the cool and wet rain forest to being in the scorching hot Costa Rica sun that I am more familiar with. As much as we are enjoying our fun in the sun we both agree that it is better to be in the rain forest than in this heat for our extended stay.

Puntarenas is on the Pacific coast so the beaches are dark volcanic sand which is pretty much impossible to walk on it is so hot. Coincidentally there is some kind of carnival in town. It is like the Perth Fair came to Costa Rica LOL FIFA is also on right now and Doug informs me that Costa Rica was playing tonight so I am sure that was part of the excitement on the street tonight.

We went for a walk on the beach and some guy was just standing there peeing on the sand. Seriously, sometimes I wonder what people are thinking. He could not have been more than 20 yards from the nearest bathroom.

Once again Miguel came through and lined up a nice hotel for us right in the heart of the action.  There is a pool at the hotel where we relaxed for part of the day, walked the beach and sat on the upstairs patio working on Doug’s math homework.

All in all a very successful day!
